Rhodes takes two against the Tigers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 5, 2016) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival earned a pair of wins over the Sewanee softball team, Saturday.

The Lynx opened by winning first game 10-2 and then took the nightcap 9-1.

Game One – Rhodes 10 – Sewanee 2

After Rhodes jumped out to a 6-0 lead, Sewanee got on the board as Sara Burklin drove in Charlsey Shirey with an RBI single to left. A batter later, Courtney Saunders singled home Rachel Hoffman with two outs.

The Lynx answered back with three runs in the top of the fourth and one run in the top of the fifth.

Sewanee was led at the plate by Burklin, Mackenzie Hobbs, and Saunders whom each had one hit.

Rachel Pewitt and Karrah Flores led Rhodes with two hits and two RBI each.

Game Two – Rhodes 9 – Sewanee 1

Rhodes again jumped out in front as the Lynx led 6-0 before Miranda Townsend drove in Hoffman in the top of the fourth. Rhodes added three more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Overall, Sewanee had five hits off of Rhodes starter Bri Maniscalco.

Sewanee and Rhodes will conclude their series with a single noon contest, Sunday.
