Behind strong play in singles, Sewanee defeats Whitter

WHITTER, Calif. (March 14, 2015) – Led by five singles wins, the No. 28 ranked Sewanee men's tennis team defeated Whitter, Monday, 6-3.

The Tigers have now won two straight matches and are 6-5 overall.

After Avery Schober and Fletcher Kerr defeated Lascott and Chavez at No. 2 doubles, 9-7, the Tigers got rolling in their individual matches.

At No. 1 singles Schober rolled over Sam Farmer in straight sets 6-0, 6-4. At No. 3 Connor Winkler defeated Sean Jardinice 6-4, 6-1 while Jack Gray won against Stenkin 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4.

At No. 6 Davis Owen crushed Trey Chavez in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 while at No. 2 Eric Roddy rallied after losing the first set 4-6 and by winning the next two sets at 6-2, 6-3.
