Tigers fall in home opener to Hendrix

SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 11, 2016) – Despite two hits from Caroline Holmes, the Sewanee softball team dropped its home opener against Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Hendrix, Friday, at Tiger Field.

The Warriors scored two runs in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth, another in the fifth, and four in the seventh.

Along with Holmes, Rachel Hoffman, Mackenzie Hobbs, and Courtney Saunders all had a hit. Both Saunders and Holmes's hits were doubles while Hoffman also reached with a walk.

Inside the circle, Hendrix starter Emily Stockalper improved to 5-5 after she struck out nine.

At the plate, Morgan Maida led the Warriors with a 3-for-4 performance with three RBI.

Both teams continue their three-game series on Saturday in Sewanee.
