SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2016) – The Sewanee men's tennis team stayed unbeaten with a 9-0 win against Piedmont, Friday, at the newly opened Bruton-Guerry Tennis Center.
Sewanee is now 3-0 in 2016. The Tigers opened by taking all three doubles matches.
At No. 1 doubles, No. 2 Eric Roddy and Jack Gray topped Nathan and Matt Metzer, 8-4. At No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, both Tiger teams won by an 8-2 score. Scott Gallimore and Alex Depascual defeated Brent Jenkins and Harrison LaBollita at No. 2 while Davis Owen and Blake Wilde topped Bryan Barnett and Robbie Werner at No. 3.
In singles, no Tiger lost a set. At No. 1, Avery Schober defeated Nathan Metzger 6-3, 6-0 while Roddy defeated Matt Metzger at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2.
At No. 3, Fletcher Kerr topped Barnett 6-2, 6-2 while Gallimore defeated Jenkins at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1.
At No. 5, Mac McCullough had little trouble against Werner winning sets at 6-2 while Wilde defeated LaBollita 6-1, 6-2.
Sewanee quickly returns to action against Transylvania on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
