Sewanee's run in the SAA Tournament comes to an end with loss against Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Nov. 5, 2016)  The Sewanee field hockey team's run in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament came to an end Saturday, as the Tigers lost 6-0 to rival Rhodes in the semifinals.

Sewanee finished the season with a 6-9 overall record under first-year head coach Laura "Mac" McIntyre.

Overall, Rhodes had goals from Hailey Mules (three), Jillian Christensen, Maddie Smith, and Christian DiFelice.

With that, Rhodes outshot Sewanee 13-2. The Lynx also had an 11-1 advantage in corners.

Individually, Hannah Tompkins and Ceara Caffrey led the offense with a shot each. Rhodes advanced to play Centre in the conference championship match on Sunday.

Saturday also marked the final game for Sewanee seniors Carrie Anderson, Catherine Estes, Kat Mulligan, and Caroline Brennan.
