Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Nov. 12, 2016) – Despite a season-high 320 yards of total offense, the Sewanee football team ended its 2016 season with a 62-14 loss against Hendrix, Saturday, at Young-Wise Stadium.
Overall, the Warriors compiled 609 yards, which included 480 yards through the air. Other keys for Hendrix were forcing three Tiger fumbles and sacking Sewanee quarterback Sam Hearn three times.
After Hendrix opened with an early touchdown, Sewanee answered back when Hearn ran three yards for the Tigers' first score. On the drive, Sewanee marched 74 yards on 13 plays, which included the fourth and two touchdown run.
Unfortunately, Hendrix outscored Sewanee 48-0 over the next two quarters. Sewanee again scored with 11:00 minutes to play.
Hearn found freshman receiver Allan Puri from 11 yards out which made the score, 55-14. Hendrix found the end zone one last time as Dayton Winn tossed a five-yard touchdown to Tyler Clifton on the next Warrior drive.
Overall, Hendrix quarterback Sam Peters finished 23-for-27 for 414 passing yards and a conference-record seven touchdowns.
Ethan Hoppe led all Hendrix receivers with four catches for 114 yards. Nate Hodapp added 91 yards and three touchdowns. Overall, 15 Warriors had at least one catch.
Hearn led Sewanee's offense with 146 passing yards. Running back Mikey Plancher added 85 rushing yards while freshman Thomas Richardson averaged 5.8 yards per carry on five attempts.
On defense, Tony Dykes led the Tigers with nine tackles. Hayden Reece also played well with eight stops including 0.5 tackles for a loss.
