Winfrey scores the game winner in a 1-0 win over Sewanee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Oct. 15, 2016)  A goal by George Winfrey led Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes to a 1-0 win Saturday at the Rhodes Soccer Field.

The match, which was originally set to be played on Friday evening, was moved to Saturday after inclement weather flooded the Rhodes soccer complex yesterday afternoon.

Winfrey netted the game winner in the 65th minute off an assist from Williams Mitchell.

Overall, Rhodes dominated the shot count 21-5. The Lynx also finished with a 7-5 advantage in corners.

With the majority of the Lynx attempts off goal, Sewanee keeper Will Merriman finished with five saves.

Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 2:30 p.m., match at Hendrix, Sunday.
