Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 6, 2015) – Down 2-0 midway through the first half, the Sewanee field hockey team answered back in a big way with four straight goals en route to a 4-3 victory, Sunday, over Wittenberg at Puett Field.
The Tigers are now 2-0 this season while Wittenberg dropped to 0-3.
The visiting Tigers opened by scoring two goals in a span of less than a minute. Isabella Wagner and Riley Trexler both netted goals to put Wittenberg ahead early.
Sewanee answered back with one goal before the half, as Virginia Barry netted a goal off an assist and rebound from Carrie Anderson.
Early in the second half, Sewanee kept on the attack. Katie Wilson blasted a one-timer off a Kat Mulligan corner in the 48th minute to give Sewanee a 3-2 lead.
Anderson then netted a goal of her own in the 58th minute.
Wittenberg added one late score after a pair of Tigers sat from two yellow cards.
Overall, Wittenberg edged Sewanee in shots and corners by one.
In goal for the Tigers, keeper Katya Waters finished with eight saves in the victory.
Sewanee returns to action with an 11:00 a.m. contest at Transylvania on Saturday.
