Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 5, 2015) – After falling just short in its season-opener at Covenant, the Sewanee men's soccer team evened its early season record to 1-1 with a 1-0 victory at Guilford, Saturday, at the Armfield Athletic Center.
The lone goal in the match came early in the contest when freshman forward Kyle Johnston netted his first career goal off a rebound from teammate Ramsey Seagle.
Overall, the Tigers' defense gave up a number of early shots however, goalkeeper Will Merriman was outstanding with seven saves in the shutout.
Johnston led the offense with four shots. Teddy Benjamin and Max Hawes finished with two attempts while Matt Hawse, Seagle, Chris Haberstroh, and Richard Huber finished with one shot.
Sewanee quickly returns to action with a tough 11:00 a.m. match against Greensboro Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.
