Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2015) – After having its seven-match winning streak snapped on Tuesday, the Sewanee volleyball team returned to its winning ways with a 3-2 road victory over rival Rhodes, Saturday, inside Mallory Gymnasium.
The Tigers are now 8-3 overall and 1-1 in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.
Sewanee opened by taking the first two sets at 25-22 and 25-20. However, Rhodes stormed back by winning the third at 20-14 and then held on for a 25-23 fourth-set victory. That set up the final game in which the Tigers won at 15-11.
Overall, Sewanee hit .112 while the Lynx hit .168. The Tigers' defense was key as Sewanee stopped 89 attacks with digs and finished with 16 block assists.
Individually, Diamond Steward added another double-double with 11 kills and 18 digs. Peyton Parent also played well with 22 digs while Walker Buxton added 36 assists and 14 digs.
Additionally, Sara Jayne Sutton had 13 digs while Maggie Stanford finished with 12 kills.
The Tigers quickly return to action with a noon match at Hendrix, Sunday.
