SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 5, 2015) – In a tough, physical match, the Sewanee men's soccer team battled Huntingdon to a 2-2 double-overtime draw, Saturday, at Puett Field.
After an own goal gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead, Sewanee answered right back. A minute and 10 seconds later, senior Richard Huber ripped a shot into the goal to tie the match at 1-1.
Sewanee then took a 2-1 advantage at the 51:26 mark, as Matt Hawse headed in a great corner kick by Chris Haberstroh.
Unfortunately, Huntingdon would net the equalizer when Brendon Van Emelen scored off a direct kick from 30 yards out.
Overall, Sewanee outshot the Hawks 14-9. The Tigers also led in corners by one, 7-6. The game was physical throughout with a combined 32 fouls and nine yellow cards.
Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 2:30 p.m. match against LaGrange, Sunday.
