No. 4 Illinois Wesleyan uses early goals to down Sewanee, 3-0

BLOOMINGTON, ILL. (Sept. 11, 2015) – No. 4 ranked Illinois Wesleyan defeated the Sewanee women's soccer team 3-0 Friday evening at Neis Field.

Wesleyan opened the match by scoring with just 36 seconds off the clock. Sydney Fox netted her third goal of the season right after the opening kickoff.

Minutes later, Mary Kate Schmidt pushed the Wesleyan lead to 2-0 with a penalty kick.

The Titans would add one final goal in the 73rd minute as Fox played a shot off the Tiger keeper after the ball was put in the box by Alison Segar and Nathalie Orozco.

Overall, Wesleyan led in shots 13-5. The Titans also held a 7-2 advantage in corners.

Tasha Saunders led Sewanee on the attack with two shots.

The Tigers continue their early season road trip with a noon (EST) match at Transylvania, Sunday.
