Softball season ends with losses against BSC and Hendrix

JACKSON, Miss. (April 25, 2015) – The Sewanee softball team ended its season with a pair of loss against Birmingham-Southern and Hendrix, Saturday, during play of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament.

The Tigers opened the day with a 17-0 loss against BSC. Sewanee then dropped a 17-2 contest against the Warriors.

Sewanee's hits against the Panthers game from Gabby Sanders and Courtney Saunders.

The Tigers did play better against Hendrix. Trailing 8-0 heading into the top of the third, Shayla Vandergriff scored on an illegal pitch with the bases loaded. Vandergriff originally reached on a lead-off double and then advanced with a walk from Sanders and a single from Sara Burklin.

In the top of the fifth, Burklin would continue her outstanding game with a RBI ground out that scored Vandergriff.

Both Tigers finished with two hits.
