Softball falls in doubleheader against Wesleyan

SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 25, 2015) – The Sewanee softball team opened its first home games of the season with a pair of losses against Wesleyan, Wednesday at Tiger Field.

The visiting Wolves won the opener 12-1 and then took the nightcap 13-2.

In the opener Sewanee finished with six hits, including two by Caroline Holmes. Sewanee was also led on offense by Courtney Saunders, who drove in Shayla Vandergriff for an RBI.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Vandergriff played well. The Tiger leftfielder went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Holmes, Sara Burklin, Gabby Sanders, and Emily Culbertson also had a hit.

The Tigers will open a four-game series with conference foe Berry on Saturday.
