Softball falls in doubleheader at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. (March 14, 2015) – The Sewanee softball team dropped a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) doubleheader against Centre, Saturday, at Boyle County High School.

The Tigers opened with a 15-2 loss before dropping a 14-0 game in the nightcap.

Jessica Young earned the win for Centre in the opener after allowing two runs and two hits while striking out three in 2.2 innings of work.

Third baseman Ashley Merkin led Centre with two hits and five RBI.

Caroline Holmes led Sewanee with a 2-for-3 performance. Sara Burklin also played well after driving in Gabby Sanders and Holmes.

In the nightcap, Centre starter Erika Brewer earned the win after striking out three and allowing three hits in the complete-game win.

Baylee Hadley led Centre with two hits and four RBI in the second game.

Centre and Sewanee will play two more games on Sunday.
