Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 15, 2015) – Behind a match-high 18 kills by All-American Beth Cecil, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre earned a 3-0 win over the Sewanee volleyball team, Thursday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.
The Tigers drop to 10-10 overall and 3-7 in SAA play. The Colonels are now 11-10 overall and 6-4 in conference matches.
The Colonels opened by hitting .481 en route to a 25-7 first-set victory. The Tigers played better in the second set, however Centre's attack stayed strong. Behind a .250 percentage, Centre won the second set at 25-20. The Colonels then used a big run midway through the third set to compete the sweep at 25-15.
Along with Cecil, Centre's setter Elizabeth Johnson finished with 33 assists.
Libero Sara Jayne Sutton led Sewanee with 14 digs. Caroline Owens and Diamond Stewart both finished with 12 defensive stops.
Sewanee returns to action with an 11:00 a.m. match at Birmingham-Southern, Saturday.
