Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 25, 2014) – Led by its highest attack percentage this season, the Sewanee volleyball team made quick work of visiting Huntingdon, Thursday, defeating the Hawks, 3-0, inside Juhan Gymnasium.
Sewanee finished with a .277 attack percentage and 40 kills in only three sets. The Tigers season-high in kills came against Cumberland on September 6. However, that match was a five-set thriller that was played in two hours.
In contrast, Sewanee won Thursday's contest with scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-23 in only one hour and 10 minutes.
Individually, senior Jamie Sue Wilson led the attack with 13 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Diamond Stewart also finished with double digit kills with 11.
Additionally, Caroline Owens, Rachel Schuman, Casey Hassett, Maggie Stanford, Emma McNamara, Walker Buxton, and Lucy Riddle also scored offensively for the Tigers.
At the setter position, Schuman finished with a match-high 12 assists while Buxton pitched in eight.
Defensively, libero Sara Jayne Sutton added 12 digs while Wilson finished with seven.
Finally, Stanford had an outstanding night serving the ball. The junior from Steamboat Springs, Colo., added a season-high five aces.
Sewanee returns to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a 4:00 p.m. (EST) match at Berry, Saturday.
