Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 20, 2014) – The Sewanee volleyball team snapped its four-match losing streak by hammering Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes 3-0, Saturday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.
The Tigers are now 4-7 overall and are 1-1 in SAA action.
Sewanee opened the match with a 25-21 set win. The Tigers then took the remaining two sets 25-16 and 25-19.
Overall, Sewanee finished with a .191 attack percentage. That was the best hitting match since the Tigers won against LaGrange on September 5.
Individually, Jamie Sue Wilson finished with 11 kills while Diamond Stewart led the team with a match-high 14 kills. Both student-athletes also had seven digs.
On defense, libero Sara Jayne Sutton added 14 digs while Walker Buxton finished with a double-double (11 digs, 12 assists).
Finally, senior setter Rachel Schuman pitched in 13 assists.
Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 1:00 p.m. match Sunday against Hendrix.
