Box Score 2 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Aug. 29, 2014) – The Sewanee volleyball team opened its season with a pair of losses Friday at the MckAttack Classic on the campus of Birmingham-Southern.
Sewanee dropped a pair of 3-0 matches against Mt. St. Joseph (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) and Piedmont (25-18, 25-23, 25-22).
Senior Jamie Sue Wilson led the attack with seven kills on 32 attempts. Sophomore Diamond Stewart pitched in six kills while sophomore Walker Buxton and senior Rachel Schuman both added nine assists.
On defense sophomore Sara Jayne Sutton added 15 digs while junior Lucy Riddle added 2.5 blocks.
Sewanee continues the two-day event with a pair of matches, Saturday. The Tigers will first take on Covenant College at 1:00 p.m. and then compete against LaGrange at 4:30 p.m.
