Tigers sweep Covenant, 9-0

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. (April 8, 2014) – The Sewanee men's tennis team dominated its match at regional-rival Covenant Tuesday, as the Tigers earned a perfect 9-0 win against the Scots.

The No. 9 regionally ranked Tigers are now 9-5 on the season and have not lost March 23.

After sweeping the doubles matches, Sewanee extended its lead to 4-0 as Sean Laughlin defeated Frank Portlock 6-0, 6-0.

Avery Schober then crushed Michael O'Brien at No. 1 by the same 6-0, 6-0 score.

At No. 3 singles Scott Gallimore earned the final perfect 6-0, 6-0 win while teammate Niamke Shropshire-Boykin won at No. 5 6-3, 6-0.

Finally, Blake Wilde and Nelson Jetmundsen both won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 6.

The Tigers return home for the first time since March 1 for a 10:00 a.m. match against Birmigham-Southern, Saturday.
