La Mirada, Calif. (March 14, 2014) – The Sewanee men's tennis team opened its spring break trip in California with a 7-2 victory over host Biola, Friday.
The Tigers opened by winning two out of three doubles matches. At No. 1, Avery Schober and Connor Winkler won 8-3 while Eric Roddy and Scott Gallimore earned a 8-4 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Schober stayed unbeaten on the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Lucas Lee at No. 1.
Winkler then earned an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory against Luke Mountain at No. 2. Rand Jackson, Roddy, Gallimore, and Alex Cooper then all cruised to straight set wins the remaining four singles matches.
The Tigers return to action with a 10:00 a.m. match against Tufts, Tuesday.
