Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 7, 2014) – Despite a late scare by Hendrix, the Sewanee women's soccer team advanced to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) semifinals with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Warriors, Friday, on the campus of Centre College.
The Tigers keep their season alive and will now face rival Rhodes, Saturday, at 2:30 p.m. (EST).
Sewanee jumped on the board first, when freshman Kiley Ezzell netted the opening goal in the 17th minute off an assist from Mary "Sissy" Frank.
The score would stay in Sewanee's favor until late in the second half. With less than eight minutes remaining, the Warriors scored the equalizer when Samantha Lallas scored off an assist from Lucy Moore.
In the extra period, Sewanee picked up the pace. The Tiger offense stayed on the attack which eventually led to a foul inside the box. From there, senior Jamie Samociuk scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 105th minute.
Overall, Sewanee outshot Hendrix 19-10.
