Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Nov. 7, 2014) – The Sewanee men's soccer team and Centre battled for over 110 minutes with no score. However, in the scoreless shootout, the Colonels topped the Tigers 3-2 to advance to the SAA semifinals on the campus of Hendrix College.
Sewanee ended the first season of head coach Tony Pacella era with a 5-10-2 record. That mark included four losses decided by only one goal.
Both teams battled throughout regulation, however neither team could score.
In the extra two periods, the score remained scoreless.
In the shootout, both teams missed their first chances. Sewanee then took a 1-0 lead in the shootout with a goal by Matt Hawse. Centre responded with goal in its third try. Sewanee would then miss. Centre would add another score to make the Colonel advantage at 2-1. The Tigers responded back when Solly Thomas tied the shootout at 2-2. However, Centre would score again and then force a Sewanee miss on the Tigers' final try.
Overall, Centre led in shots 22-10. The Colonels also held a 15-3 advantage in corners.
Friday marked the final match for seniors Conrad Bandoroff, Walker Ueland, Thomas, Ford Emerson, Ruffin Blackwell, Weston Stitt, Jacob Fisher, and Griffin Miller.
