Tigers and Centre battle to a 1-1 draw

Box Score

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 4, 2014) – A first-half goal by Bobby Zolper helped the Sewanee men's soccer team tie Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre 1-1, Saturday, at Puett Field.

Sewanee and the Colonels both earned one point in the league standings.

After Centre quickly scored in the fourth minute, Sewanee rallied back. The Tigers' attack kept pushing hard into their offensive third when Zolper ripped in the equalizer four minutes later.

Despite chances for both teams throughout the final half and two golden-goal overtime periods, nether team could score the game-winner.

Overall, Centre did edge out Sewanee in shots in corners. However, the Tigers did battle hard which limited the Colonels' break away or second change opportunities.

Now in league play, Sewanee continues its SAA schedule with a 4:00 p.m. (EST) match at Oglethorpe next Saturday.
