Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Oct. 19, 2014) – After being shutout Friday for only the second time this season, the Sewanee women's soccer team returned to form Sunday with an impressive 4-2 win at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Hendrix.
The victory helped Sewanee keep pace in the latest SAA standings. The Tigers are currently 3-1-0 in league play, two matches behind leaders Rhodes and Berry.
Mary "Sissy" Frank opened the offense with a goal from senior Jamie Samociuk in the eighth minute.
Later in the first half, the Tigers pushed their lead to 2-0 when Shelby Meckstroth netted a goal off a pass from freshman Kiley Ezzell.
Hendrix would rally back over the next 20 minutes with goals from Janie Stultz and Samantha Lallas.
However, Sewanee's offense stayed on the attack. A goal in the 53rd minute by Tyler Edell and another from Jordan Najmabadi sealed the victory for the Tigers.
After scoring only once the first eight matches, Najmabadi has scored five times the past five contests.
With their 10-4-0 overall record, the Tigers return to action against Millsaps next Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Puett Field.
