DANVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2014) – A .252 attack percentage helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre defeat the Sewanee volleyball team 3-1, Wednesday, inside Alumni Gymnasium.

The Tigers fell to 6-15 overall and are now 2-8 in league play.

The Colonels finished with 53 kills and only 18 errors on 139 attacks. That helped the home team earn 25-18, 25-20, and 25-18 set wins. Sewanee did earn a third-set victory at 25-23.

Despite a slow start, Diamond Stewart led the Tiger offense with 15 kills. Senior Jamie Sue Wilson also added in 11 kills while Rachel Schuman and Walker Buxton each finished with 14 assists.

On defense, Sara Jayne Sutton led the backline with 23 digs. Stewart also played well on the defensive end with 14 stops.

Finally, Sewanee, who is usually good on the middle block, finished with only one solo block by Casey Hassett.

The Tigers return to action this weekend at home. Sewanee welcomes Birmingham-Southern for an 11:00 a.m. match, Saturday inside Juhan Gymnasium.

Sewanee is then scheduled to play Millsaps at 1:00 p.m., Sunday to close out Family Weekend.
