Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2013) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Millsaps earned a 3-1 victory over the Sewanee volleyball team, Saturday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.
The loss dropped Sewanee to 10-5 overall and 1-3 in league action. Millsaps improved 9-7 overall and 3-1 in SAA play.
After Millsaps opened with a convincing 25-17 first-set win, the Majors held off the Tigers over the final three frames 19-25, 25-18, 25-20.
Overall, Sewanee finished with a .208 attack percentage on 125 total attempts. Additionally, Sewanee's defense did finished with 10 block assists and two solo stops.
Individually, junior Jamie Sue Wilson finished with a season-high 18 kills and only five attack errors. Freshman Diamond Stewart added 12 kills from her outside hitter position.
Defensively, freshman Jamie Kosman added a match-high 22 digs while setters Rachel Schuman and Walker Buxton finished with 18 and 13 assists, respectively.
Millsaps was led by Caroline McKey, who finished with a double-double of 14 kills and 13 digs.
Sewanee will quickly return to action with a 1:00 p.m., contest against Birmingham-Southern, Sunday.
