Box Score DEMOREST, Ga. (Sept. 22, 2013) – Behind a season-high four goals, the Sewanee men's soccer team won its fourth straight match with a 4-2 victory at Piedmont Sunday.
The Tigers improved their overall record to 4-3-2. Also during this recent winning streak, Sewanee has outscored its opponents 9-3.
Freshman William White got the Tigers on the scoreboard with a goal in the 23rd minute.
Minutes later, Ford Emerson pushed the lead to 2-0 when he converted a shot off a pass from Harrison Williams.
After Piedmont finally scored early in the second half, the Tigers continued to roll.
For the second straight match, Chris Haberstroh netted a score when he fired in a shot in the 58th minute.
Piedmont would briefly cut into its deficit when Vincent Thomas scored his second goal of the match.
However, just when it looked like Piedmont would crawl back into the contest, Sewanee responded.
Another goal by Haberstroh helped seal the victory in the 64th minute.
Overall, Sewanee outshot Piedmont 10-8. The Tigers also finished with a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Individually, Christian Gonzalez, Haberstroh, and Walker Ueland led the attack with two shots each.
Defensively, keepers Holden Foster and Jacob Zalewski combined for four saves.
Sewanee will look to continue its winning streak, when the Tigers host Emory & Henry on September 29. That match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. at Puett Field.
