Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Sept. 15, 2013) – A second-half goal by senior Brian Maloney pushed the Sewanee men's soccer team past LeTourneau Sunday on the campus of Birmingham-Southern.
With the win, the Tigers have won two matches in-a-row and improved their overall record to 2-3-2.
After putting up nine shots in the first half, Sewanee kept taking the fight to LeTourneau after the intermission. After two shots from sophomore Chris Haberstroh, the Tigers had their sixth corner kick of the match.
On the ensuing play, Maloney found a loss ball and fired in the game-winner in the 62nd minute.
Overall, Sewanee edged out LeTourneau in shots 16-15. Additionally, the Tigers won the corner kick battle 8-3.
Individually, Maloney and freshman William White each finished with a game-high five shots. Additionally, Harrison Williams, Ford Emerson, and Haberstroth also played well with two shots each.
In goal, freshman Holden Foster earned his second career victory after he finished the shutout with seven saves.
The Tigers will now briefly return to Puett Field for a 7:00 p.m., contest Friday against Tennessee Temple.
