Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Sept. 14, 2013) – A goal by Walker Ueland helped the Sewanee men's soccer team to its first win of the season Saturday, as the Tigers defeated LaGrange 1-0.
After both teams failed to score in the first half, Ueland took a pass from senior teammate Brian Maloney and fired in the game-winner to open the second half.
Overall, Sewanee dominated the statistics. Sewanee led in shots, 21-9, and in corner kicks by a 7-0 margin.
Individually, freshman midfielder William White led the attack with five shots. Additionally, Ueland and Griffin Smith took four attempts while Solly Thomas fired two shots.
In goal, Holden Foster finished with five saves for the shutout win.
The Tigers will look to win their second straight match with a noon contest, Sunday against LeTourneau.
