Box Score 3 SEWANEE, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2013) – The Sewanee women's volleyball team completed its opening weekend sweep by earning three additional wins, Saturday, at the Sewanee Invitational inside Juhan Gymnasium.
After topping Piedmont (3-0/25-18, 25-16, 25-10) in their first match, the Tigers earned victories over Pensacola Christian (3-0/25-13, 25-22, 25*19) and Fisk (3-0/27-25, 25-15, 25-15) to close out its two-day event.
As a team, Sewanee relied on its strong defense throughout the day. The Tigers averaged 39.6 digs and six blocks each match.
Individually, junior Jamie Sue Wilson led the attack with 21 kills. Sophomore Caroline Montgomery also played well. The second-year middle blocker finished with 19 kills and an incredible .446 attack percentage.
On defense, sophomore libero Jamie Kosman added 29 digs and also pitched in four aces.
Sewanee will continue its six-match homestand with a 6:00 p.m. contest against regional-rival Covenant, Tuesday.
