Box Score 2 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 29, 2013) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Birmingham-Southern swept a pair of contests against the Sewanee softball team Friday at the BSC Softball Park.
In the first game of the twin bill, the Tigers could muster only two hits against Panther pitching ace Bethany Fronk, as BSC shut out Sewanee 8-0.
Maddy Gould and Grace Cobbs each had a single in the game.
Sarah Anne Hamilton suffered the loss in the circle for Sewanee.
An eight-run second inning by Birmingham-Southern spelled doom for the Tigers as the Panthers cruised to a 14-2 win in the nightcap of the doubleheader.
Sarah Burklin and Claire Knepshield picked up Sewanee's only two hits of the game. Kayla Sewell and Sarah Fleming each had an RBI ground out for the Tigers.
Cooper Killen was charged with the pitching loss.
With the doubleheader loss, the Tigers fell to 5-12 overall and 0-10 in conference action.
Sewanee and Birmingham-Southern will wrap up their four-game SAA series with noon doubleheader, Saturday.
