Box Score 2 CONWAY, Ark. (March 24, 2013) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Hendrix capped off a sweep of the Sewanee softball team Sunday with two more victories.
Sarah Burklin had two hits, while Michelle Thibodeaux picked up a single for Sewanee as the Warriors defeated the Tigers 14-0 in game one of the doubleheader.
Sarah Anne Hamilton was the losing pitcher in the opener.
In the second game Sewanee cracked the scoreboard in the top of the first inning when Kayla Sewell lined a two-out triple down the right field line scoring Sarah Fleming, who had reached on a walk. Burklin chased home Sewell with a single to give the Tigers an early 2-0 lead.
Hendrix responded with three runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second and one in the third to make the final score 12-2.
Cooper Killen suffered the loss in the circle for the Tigers.
Fleming, Sewell, Burklin, and Thibodeaux each had one hit for Sewanee.
Sewanee now stands at 5-9 on the season and 0-8 in conference play.
The Tigers will return to action on Friday when they travel to Birmingham for a four-game SAA series with Birmingham Southern. Doubleheader action is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
