Box Score

CONWAY, Ark. (Nov. 8, 2013) – A pair of first-half goals helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Oglethorpe defeat the Sewanee men's soccer team, 2-0, Friday night at Warrior Field.

The loss ends the No. 6 seeded Tigers' season. No. 3 seed Oglethorpe advances to Saturday's SAA Tournament semifinal match, where the Stormy Petrels will face No. 2 seed Berry.

Early in the first half OU broke the scoreless tie, with a goal by Gustavo Martinez.

Eight minutes later, Justin Stoessel scored off a corner pass from N. Papanikolopoulos to push the Oglethorpe advantage to 2-0.

Overall, Sewanee did manage seven total shots, including two from Walker Ueland and Ford Emerson. Unfortunately, of those attempts, OU keeper Vaughn Moore shutout the Tigers with three saves in 90 minutes of action.

Sewanee ends its season with an 8-8-2 overall record. During the season, the Tigers boasted a five-match winning streak from Sept. 14 – Sept. 29. Sewanee also posted a combined record of 5-3-2 in games played away from Puett Field.
