Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2013) – A late second-half goal by Griffin Miller powered the Sewanee men's soccer team past Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes, Sunday, at Puett Field.
The victory improved the Tigers to 7-7-2 overall and 2-4 in SAA play.
In the 87th minute, Miller found a loose ball inside the box and blasted the game-winning shot into the net.
Overall, Sewanee and Rhodes both were even in shots at 13 attempts each. The Lynx did hold a slight edge in corner kicks by a 5-2 advantage.
Individually, goalkeepers Holden Foster and Jacob Zalewski combined for the shutout with five saves.
On offense, Ford Emerson led a balanced attack with three shots. Additionally, Brian Maloney and Griffin Smith finished with two shots each.
The Tigers will look to continue their success with their final regular season match of the season at Centre, November 2. That contest is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. (EST) in Danville, Ky.
