Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Oct. 13, 2013) – Despite an early goal by Ford Emerson, the Sewanee men's soccer team could not hold on against Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Birmingham-Southern, Sunday, as the Panthers rallied for a 2-1 win at Goldfarb Field.
The Tigers got on the board first, when Emerson scored in the fourth minute off an assist by Will Thomas.
Sewanee continued to lead until BSC took advantage of a Tiger foul inside the box late in the first half. On the ensuing penalty kick, Tobias Winter scored the equalizer in the 32nd minute.
In the second half, BSC took the lead when Kristjan Bryde converted a pass from Ian Everett in the 48th minute.
During the remainder of the match, Sewanee would fire four shots, however each attempt was turned away by BSC keeper Jonas Heldrich.
Individually, Emerson led the attack with his lone goal on two shots.
Additionally, Elliot Howe, Brian Maloney, Max Hawes, Solly Thomas, Chris Haberstroh, Christian Gonzalez, and Reed Dowdy all finished with one shot attempt.
The Tigers will look to rebound when Sewanee plays host to Berry College on October 18th. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Puett Field.
