Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Sept. 30, 2012) – Behind a strong attack, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Hendrix earned a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) win over the Sewanee volleyball team, Sunday, inside Grove Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-5 in conference action. Additionally, the Warriors stopped Sewanee's four-match winning streak.
Early on, Hendrix opened a huge first-set lead, before Sewanee roared back with six straight points to make the score 19-20. Unfortunately, the Warriors had four straight kills, which capped off a 5-0 run to close the first set.
After Hendrix dominated the second set with a .247 attack percentage, the Warriors' offense stayed strong in the third. Sewanee briefly held a 17-14 advantage, before Hendrix again closed the set on a 11-2 run.
Overall, Sewanee finished with a .127 attack percentage. Individually, sophomore Kayla Sewell and freshman Rebecca Hannigan led the Tigers with seven kills.
Additionally, freshman Jamie Kosman pitched in 16 digs while Rachel Schuman finished with 10 digs and 11 assists.
Sewanee continues SAA play with its final conference road matches next weekend. The Tigers will first play at Oglethorpe, Friday, and then take on Berry, Saturday.
