Sewanee falls at Birmingham-Southern in straight sets

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Sept. 22, 2012) – The Sewanee volleyball team could not overcome a quick start by Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Birmingham-Southern, as the Tigers lost 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-23) inside Bill Battle Coliseum.

Individually, the Tigers were led by Kayla Sewell and Caroline Montgomery, who each finished with a team-high seven kills. Defensively, Sewell added 10 digs and two blocks, while Jamie Sue Wilson also added a pair of blocks to go along with 11 digs.

Shelby Moore (10 kills) and Meredith Lee (12 kills) paced a strong BSC attack. As team, the Panthers hit .286 with 45 kills on 105 attempts.

The Tigers return to action with a home double-header against Fisk and Cumberland, September 26th.
