Box Score EMORY, Va. (Sept. 14, 2012) – Led by two first-half goals, the Sewanee men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over Emory & Henry, Friday, at Fred Selfe Stadium.
Sewanee broke through in the 34th minute, as forward Samuel Edoung-Biyo added his fourth goal this season. On the play, the senior scored off a loose ball that was served inside the box by Chris Haberstroh.
Two minutes later, Ford Emerson made it 2-0 when he outraced two defenders and fired a shot inside the near post.
In the second half, Emory & Henry did manage to score once. The Wasps battled back with their only goal, when Cody Gregory scored off a pass from Seth Phillips.
Overall, Emory & Henry held a slight advantage in shots (14-12) while Tigers led in corner kicks (5-3).
Defensively, Sewanee played well. Despite the Wasps' 14 shots, the Tigers allowed only three attempts on-goal.
The Tigers will wrap up their six-match road trip with a 4:00 p.m., (EST) contest, Sunday, at Maryville.
