Box Score 2 LEBANON, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2012) – Sewanee picked up their first win of the 2012 season today with a dominating 3-0 win over Fisk University at the Cumberland University Labor Day Volleydawg Classic in Lebanon, Tenn.
In their first match, the Tigers fell in a hard-fought five-set contest to Reinhardt University 3-2.
Sewanee took the first set against the Eagles by the score of 25-16, but the Reinhardt stormed back to take the next two sets 25-21 and 25-19. The Tigers forced a deciding fifth set by winning the fourth set 25-21. Reinhardt rebounded to capture the match with a 15-12 victory in set five.
In the second match of the day, the Tigers swept the Fisk Bulldogs by scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-13.
Wilson and Sewell led the way with nine and eight kills, respectively. Schuman again paced the Tigers handing out 23 assists. Newcomer Jamie Kosman had eleven digs, while freshman Lucy Riddle chipped in one block and three block assists.
The Tigers now stand at 1-1 on the season and will continue play in Lebanon tomorrow when they face the University of Pikeville at 11:00 a.m., and host Cumberland University at 1:00 p.m.
