Men's tennis cruises past Huntingdon 8-1

Sewanee, Tenn. (March 10 - 2012) – The Sewanee men's tennis team took care of the Hawks from Huntingdon this afternoon, winning by a score of 8-1.  Sewanee standout Levi Joy turned in an excellent performance for the Tigers by defeating Sean Jackson at No. 3 singles, and combined with Grant Hopkins to defeat Jackson and Baldwin of Huntingdon by a score of 8-4. 
 
Rand Jackson and Aaron Cotton found themselves trailing Creamer and Howell from Huntingdon 2-5, before mounting their comeback and eventually winning No. 2 doubles 8-6.   David Human fought to a 7-5 victory in his first set at No. 5 doubles, then did not drop a game in the second set with a 6-0 defeat of the Hawks' Larry Pritchett.

With the victory, Sewanee stands at 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the SCAC. The Tigers travel to Claremont, California for spring break competition.  Their first opponent will be Carnegie Mellon University on March 15th.  The match is slated for 10:00 a.m.
