Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 7, 2012) – The Sewanee men's soccer team battled Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Millsaps to a 0-0 draw Sunday, on a cold afternoon at Puett Field.
In fact, Sunday's match was the second straight contest that Sewanee and a member of the conference finished scoreless. The Tigers and Birmingham-Southern tied 0-0 Friday night. Additionally, prior to the contest, head coach David Poggi honored seniors Daniel Drewry, Zack Goodwin, Samuel Edoung-Biyo, and Joel Stewart.
Overall, both teams finished the physical battle with close statistics. The Majors just edged out Sewanee in shots (14-11) and corner kicks (10-8).
Individually, midfielder Walker Ueland led the Tigers with four shots. Sophomore Ford Emerson pitched in three attempts while freshman keeper Jacob Zalewski made six saves, including one diving stop in the second overtime.
After a pair of home matches, Sewanee returns to the road with a 4:00 p.m., match Friday, at conference newcomer Berry.
Seniors
Daniel Drewry - Drewry has played in 61 career matches. Drewry was a team's Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, while earning Kyle Rote Jr. All-Tournament honors as a sophomore. Off the field, Drewry is a member of the Order of Gownsman and a Presidental Scholar. After graduation Drewry is planning on attending medical school. Daniel is the son of Dr. Rice and Thresa Drewry.
Zack Goodwin - A 2012 captain, Goodwin has played in 62 career matches. Goodwin scored the game-winning goal againt DePauw his freshman season. Goodwin is the son of Tim and Donna Goodwin.
Samuel Edoung-Biyo - Edoung-Biyo has played in 63 career matches. Overall, Edoung-Biyo has 11 career goals while earning All-SCAC honors as a junior. Edoung-Biyo is the son of Acques Biyo and Odette Moni.
Joel Stewart - Stewart has played in 39 career matches. A leader both on and off the pitch, Stewart is the son of Marvin Stewart and Felicia Stewart.
