BIRMINGHAM, Ala. 4/3/11 – The Birmingham Southern Panthers swept past the Sewanee Tigers in an SCAC softball doubleheader played today in Birmingham. The Panthers won the first game 10-0 and the second game 15-0.
In the first game of the doubleheader, freshman Michelle Thibodeaux (Atlanta, Ga., Academe of the Oaks) was the pitcher of record in the 10-0 loss.
Birmingham Southern outhit the Tigers twelve to two. Dana Middleton (Norcross, Ga., Marist) and Flo Churchwell (Houston, Tex., Kipp Houston High School) each turned in a 1-for-2 effort at the plate for Sewanee.
Middleton picked up Sewanee's only hit in the second game of the doubleheader as Birmingham Southern claimed the 15-0 victory. The Tigers were outhit eleven to one in Game 2.
Carly Warfield (Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth) was the losing pitcher for the Tigers.
With the doubleheader loss, Sewanee drops to 0-6 in SCAC play and 2-8 overall.
