BIRMINGHAM, Ala. 4/2/11 – The Birmingham Southern Panthers took both ends of an SCAC doubleheader from the Sewanee Tigers today. The Panthers won the first game 8-0 and the second game by a score of 25-0.
In the opener, an 8-0 loss, the Tigers were no-hit by the Panthers. Michelle Thibodeaux (Decatur, GA, Academe of the Oaks) was the losing pitcher for the Tigers.
In the nightcap of the doubleheader, Birmingham Southern raced by the Tigers 25-0. Alex Ginsburg (Hollywood, S.C., Pinewood Prep) picked up Sewanee's only hit of the game, a single in the top of the fifth inning. Thibodeaux was again the losing pitcher.
The Tigers fall to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference play.
Sewanee and Birmingham Southern will wrap up the four-game SCAC series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
