SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2011) - The Sewanee Tigers wrapped up the home schedule today with an impressive 3-0 (25-5, 25-5, 24-14) win over Wesleyan College on Senior Day. Seniors Blair Barrows and Kim Conkell played in their final home match for the Tigers today.
Jamie Sue Wilson led Sewanee with eight kills. Rachel Schuman posted 17 assists, while Blair Barrows had 15 digs. Kayla Sewell chipped in eight service aces and Wilson, Sewell and Jordan Grant had one block. Kim Conkell had four kills with zero errors on nine attempts for .444 hitting percentage.
The Tigers closed out the first set strongly as Sewell served 18 straight points to finish out the set.
Barrows was able to get Sewanee off to a great start in the second set by winning nine straight service points. After an exchange of serves, Conkell served eight more points for the Tigers.
Sewanee improves to 8-21 on the season.
The Tigers will return to action on Friday, November 4 at the SCAC volleyball tournament in Jackson, Miss. Sewanee enters the tournament as the 12th seeded team and will take on #5 Trinity University at 10 am.
