SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2011) – After playing to a scoreless tie throughout the first half, the Sewanee men's soccer team could not overcome two Rhodes second half goals, as the Tigers fell to their rival 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Puett Field.
After neither team found the back of the net the first few minutes of the second period, Rhodes finally got on the board with 31 minutes remaining in the match. Taking advantage of a Sewanee foul, Rhodes defender Will Cooner crushed the ensuing free kick from midfield, over the outstretched arms of Tiger goalkeeper
Derek Williams.
Later in the half the Lynx added to their lead as forward Will Wurster headed home a line-drive corner kick by teammate Jason Crutcher, pushed the Rhodes lead to 2-0.
