SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee men's tennis hosted Oglethorpe Sunday in what was expected to be a tight match after a 5-4 Sewanee win last year, but the host Tigers swept the doubles 3-0 and earned an eventual 7-2 win. John Shackelford's Tigers remain unbeaten this year with a 4-0 record and combined score of 31 points in four matches, compared to just five allowed for their opponents.
Heading into singles, newcomer Anthony Lioce (Huntsville, Ala., Randolph School) and Will Holloway (Augusta, Ga., Lakeside) fought tough three-set matches at \#2 and \#3, and Jeff Lepley (Raliegh, N.C., Cardinal Gibbons) and Philip Kuntz (Atlanta, Ga., Dunwoody) locked in the 7-2 final with wins at \#5 and \#6. The Tigers will play Rhodes, \#3 Washington University and \#6 Kenyon next weekend.
