SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee wrapped up the 18th annual Kyle Rote Jr. Invitational on Sunday afternoon and after 75 scoreless minutes, Washington and Lee scored the eventual game-winner on a Drew Crowley goal to give the Generals the final 1-0 score.
Chris Grover (Collierville, Tenn., St. George's),
Patrick Johnson (Cleveland, Tenn., McCallie) and
Daniel Drewry (Germantown, Tenn., Christian Brothers) highlighted the Sewanee weekend (1-1) by earning spots on the All-Tournament Team.
The Tigers outshot the Generals 17-6, but none of the Tiger shots found the net. Sewanee took eight corner kicks, while the Generals didn't have any attempts from the corner. Grover played 90 minutes in goal for Sewanee and logged four saves, while Benjamin Bartlett had four saves and the shutout for W&L.
Sewanee is at .500 with a 2-2 record and will host LaGrange Friday night. W&L is now 1-1 in 2009.
