SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee hosted NAIA Covenant on Saturday for Senior Day, which honored Sewanee three senior players.
Charlie Boyd (Nashville, Tenn., M.B.A.),
Henry Litchfield (Oklahoma City, Okla., Heritage Hall) and
Wyatt Harper (Dickson, Tenn., Dickson) were recognized before the game. Covenant go out to a three match lead after doubles, but Sewanee rallied and ran the board in singles, winning all six matches for the 6-3 win.
Highlights for the Tigers included a comeback win at \#6 by Harper after he dropped his first set in singles 6-7 and a win by
Jay Hill (Greenville, S.C., Southside) in three sets after being down four straight match points in the second set. Hill came back to win the set two tiebreaker 14-12 and then the third set 6-1 at \#3 singles.
Sewanee is 10-7 so far in 2009 and will play at the SCAC Championships this weekend.
