LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Tenn. 3/7/09 - Covenant College swept a doubleheader from Sewanee today in softball action. The Scots took the opener by the score of 7-0 and won the second game 11-1. It was the season opener for the Tigers.
In the first game of the doubleheader the Tigers were no-hit by Covenant in a 7-0 loss. Courtney Hinkle (Tallahassee, Fla., Maclay) picked up the loss on the mound for Sewanee.
In game 2, the Tigers managed four hits as they dropped an 11-1 decision to the Scots. Erin Polena (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mt. Lebanon), Regan Rau (Houston, Tex., St. John's), Brandi Moore (Birmingham, Ala,, Mountain Brook) and Brittany Shere (Belvidere, Ill., Belvidere) all picked up singles in the game. Moore drove in Sewanee's lone run.
Rau was charged with the loss.
The Tigers are 0-2 and will return to action on March 21 and 22 as they travel to Birmingham for a four-game SCAC matchup with Birmingham Southern.
